My first child, Julian Innes (12/20/04 - 12/23/04) died of heart failure when he was 3 days old, after being diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy. I gave birth to a healthy baby girl, Natalie Juliana, on 7/27/06.

Alysse, I'm thinking of you as Julian's 2nd birthday approaches and sending much love and warm thoughts. I'm sorry he's not here with you. I hope it isn't always as hard as it feels right now to pass milestones and anniversaries without him.

I hope you and your family are surviving this time of year with some peace and moments of joy with Natalie. Just as Athena will never replace Alex for me, I know that Natalie will never replace Julian for you. I hope you can remember him fondly, with a smile on your face. Wherever he is, I'm sure he's proud of you and his little sister.
