Drawing by Heather Spears

Drawing of Julian by Heather Spears (www.heatherspears.com). Heather is a Canadian-born published poet and artist who lives in Denmark. She has done amazing drawings of children in crisis, and will work with bereaved parents to create drawings of their children based on photographs and parents' memories, creating lasting, softer images of the child than a photo taken in a medical setting. This drawing brought tears to my eyes. I am so happy you have this. I can completely comprehend the raw-ness of your experience, and can only wish you peace in the coming months.

Thank you so much for this information, Alysse! When my stillborn daughter Madeline arrived early at 23 weeks, we were all in shock & didn't have a chance to take pictures. The hospital took pictures of her for us, but they turned out horrible & not like my beautiful Madeline really looked. My husband won't let me display her pictures because they are so bad. This is a wonderful alternative! I know that this drawing has helped you so much because you can see your beautiful Julian as you remember him. Heather did a great job.
